{"id":4785,"date":"2023-09-19T19:03:04","date_gmt":"2023-09-19T23:03:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/serbianwhiteeagles.ca\/en\/?p=4785"},"modified":"2024-06-03T19:15:34","modified_gmt":"2024-06-03T23:15:34","slug":"second-place-for-serbian-white-eagles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/serbianwhiteeagles.ca\/en\/2023\/09\/second-place-for-serbian-white-eagles\/","title":{"rendered":"SECOND PLACE FOR SERBIAN WHITE EAGLES"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A hat-trick by Scarborough substitute striker Gonzalo Matias led his team to a 6-4 victory to capture the Canadian Soccer League Regular Season title at Paramount Field 1 on Saturday September 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Defender Marco Johansen\u2019s header opened the scoring for Scarborough at the 7th minute mark and the Toronto east side team went up 2-0 two minutes later when Jordan Webb collected a left wing cross to find the net from close in. Forward Devroy Grey scored the other goal for Scarborough. Matias scored his winning hat-trick after entering the field as a substitute in the 60th minute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two goals by <strong>Marko Stajic<\/strong> as well as singles by <strong>Vladimir Strizovic<\/strong> and <strong>Stefan Pejic<\/strong> allowed our Serbian White Eagles to keep pace until the last few minutes but Scarborough held a lead for most of the match and near the end increased their lead to a two goal margin for a 6-4 score at the final whistle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That concludes the 2023 season following an announcement that the CSL Championship playoffs will not be played due to financial and venue considerations.
