YEAR OF TRANSITION

Uros Stamatovic

Eagles have played a good and interesting game in the season opener. They were close to victory, but the feeling is undivided, Eagles pleased everyone. Uros Stamatovic, head coach of our team, has taken the team at most difficult time since 2006 and did more than a good job in a short period of time. It seems appointing Uros as a head coach is the best move and the biggest gain for Eagles this year. His extensive experience in the premier league of Serbia, more than 200 games played, six of more than successful years with Eagles, exceptional human qualities, are pointing that the team is in good hands. It should be noted and that his character remained the same, exactly the same from the first day in Canada to date.

This is interview with Uros Stamatovic just hours after the first game of the season:

This is a transitional season for our club because we have started creating a new team, creating a new generation of young white eagles who will be the backbone of the team in the future. Of course young players will have the help of several experienced players from both Toronto and the surrounding area and from Serbia.

We are in negotiations with a few players from Europe and we are glad to hear and see the White Eagles are very well reputed and known overseas. We must continue this path and further contribute to the positive image that our club has.

Uros, Predrag, Dragan

The roster is not yet final and will be supplemented with a few famous names in the near future. One good news is that a few days ago Zoran Rajovic, international player from Novi Sad, a skilled striker joined our club. Together with Milicic, Dimitrov, Vlaski, Djurkovic and West will be an important link between youth and experience. We have many young players that are noticeable like Vukoje, Klisara, Lukovic, Atanasov, Orlando and others.

We are hoping for a successful season, and we invite fans to help us in creating new generation of the White Eagles. With them will be much easier and we’ll do our best to get them back in large numbers in the stands. The best fans with the best team is our motto.

I hoped that the first game against London City would show what we have and stand as a team. All my expectations were justified and proven that we have a young and talented new generation of Eagles, to which we can rely for a longer period.

Although the game ended a draw, I can freely say that we are satisfied with the game, we did not win a point but we lost two. However, I am happy because I see room for improvement. From the good plays and good positioning the finishing touch and good ending result will come as a reward. Opportunities were coming in waves and the tempo was high, which is very important, especially against an experienced team such as the London City this year. Again, I repeat, this is a new team and will take time and hard work for things to look the way I envisioned. Soon enough the next match will indicate whether we may have another side. Young players often lack consistency. We will try to work on finishing touches so we can crown our good performance with more goals. We will be a host to a tough team of North York Astros.

I’d like to mention our loyal fans who always come in a very large numbers and are helping our young men give their best. With our effort on the field we will try to bring even more fans.
