EAGLES LOSE IN FIRST LEG OF FINALS

Difficult days have befallen the Canadian Soccer League, and therefore the Serbian White Eagles, just before the start of this year’s season. Namely, the league was reduced to just two clubs. These clubs are old rivals and the best clubs in the league – Scarborough SC and our Serbian White Eagles. It was not known whether anything would become of this year’s season until August 9, when, after a league meeting, it was announced that the season would not be played, but that this year’s champion would be decided in a two-leg championship final between Scarborough and the Serbian White Eagles.

The first of two games was played at Esther Shiner Stadium on Saturday, August 15, starting at 2:00 PM. It was not easy to gather players at this time of year, but we managed.

Scarborough midfielder Mishel Vissuet scored the opening goal in the 28th minute – a close-range shot. At halftime, the score was 1-0 for the East Toronto team Scarborough. Our team held on until the end of the second half when three quick goals fell in favour of Scarborough. Scarborough striker Everton Santana made it 2-0 in the 73rd minute, while midfielder Andy Baquero, a former Cuban international, scored in the 82nd and 90th minutes, making it 4-0.

The second leg is scheduled for Sunday September 20, also at 2:00 PM at Esther Shiner Stadium. The match will last 90 minutes, with an additional 30 minutes of extra time if the aggregate score is tied after regular time. If the aggregate score remains tied after extra time, the winner will be decided by a penalty shootout.

What can we do? Times are difficult for everyone, so we won’t bother you too much with a special appeal. We’ll just remind you that any kind of help or support is always welcome.

Nothing is impossible. Let’s hope that the wheel of fortune keeps turning.
